Grand jury urges colleges to step up security measures

The San Mateo County Community College District should improve security training and emergency preparedness on its 3 campuses, including Canada College in Woodside, the county civil grand jury recommended in a report released Jul 5.

Made up of nineteen citizens appointed by a Superior Court judge, the civil grand jury investigated safety and security practices on the campuses and recommended that the district:

> Hold regular joint training sessions between on-campus security and local law-enforcement agencies.

> Review safety awareness and emergency procedures during brand new student orientation in the fall.
